Internationally recognized multidisciplinary body, working mainly in partnership with Mediterranean and inter-tropical countries, the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD) is a French public institution under the dual supervision of the Ministries of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and Europe and Foreign Affairs. Through its network and its presence in 50 countries, it conducts original research, training and knowledge sharing for the benefit of the territories and countries that make science and innovation one of the first levers of their development. TransVIHMI focuses on the specificities of HIV infection in the south and its consequences for populations. The impact of HIV on other tropical infectious endemics means that the field of research also addresses the issue of co-infections (hepatitis, tuberculosis) and other neglected tropical diseases such as filariasis. Around this thematic unit, and this since its creation almost 20 years ago, TransVIHMI conducts multidisciplinary cross-disciplinary research combining virology, parasitology, clinical, epidemiology, public health and social sciences.
In collaboration with IRD, Education Consulting Center (ECC) is coordinating the implementation of research activities in Savannakhet. ECC aims to offer quality advisory services to education and health education projects.
